My Immigration/ Minutemen Comments on Anderson Cooper's Blog

These are the comments I made to Anderson Cooper's question regarding the Minutemen and their bulding of a wall....

The disparity between life in the United States and life in Mexico will not be solved by any wall, any fence, or any other blockade. Mexicans already know they are looked down upon by the high and mighty Americans. Do you really think a wall will stop them when a scorching desert doesn't? The real way to solve this problem is to help Mexico get up on its feet. Take some notes from what Western European nations have done with poorer Eastern European nations, as they've opened up their borders and economies.

I remember the many guys in the right side used to say: "I'm not against inmigrants, I'm against ILLEGAL inmigrants"
Ok, let fullfill W.Bush promise, he made in 2000, that he would give legal rights to these people. And now the same guys say:
"Well... uh... we don't want them legal..." And then suddenly they say all worried "It would be unfair for the people waiting in line".
What people??? There are NO people waiting in line for work permits! (citizenship is different) Who is selling this idea???
Many inmigrants, have been in America for many years, trying to be good citizens, are members of churches, hard workers, and of course reporting to the Army (even illegal you have to report to the militaries-who will gladly accept you and sent you to Irak).
Many of them have fake illegal social security numbers (blessed by the INS, who would not give them nothing back)
These people might not be legals, but a human right should have some rights. That's what they're asking for.

well said.

clearly this conflict will not be solved even symbolically by building a wall.

how interesting that a nation that once rallied when their leader yelled out, "tear down that wall" to the Soviet premier so that Eastern Europeans could be allowed to go into Western Europe, is now a nation that says, "we don't want you here."
